Setting up 2FA

Setting up 2FA on Kucoin.

The Importance of Google 2FA

In order to protect your account and avoid any potential theft of your assets, KuCoin uses Google Authenticator.  This protects your KuCoin account and adds an extra layer of security.

All users have passwords to their accounts, but passwords alone aren't safe. They can also easily be stolen. For this reason, we require users to use Google Authenticator and bind the Google two-step authentication to their account. Once users accounts are bound, even if their password is stolen, the user's phone or secret key is still required to log in to the account.

The Google two-step verification code is generated by the Google Authenticator on the phone, and the verification code is changed every 30 seconds.  Each verification code can only be used once.

**Google two-step verification is used to log in, trade, deposit and withdraw on the KuCoin Exchange**

1. Download the Google Authenticator application to your phone.

IOS users should search for "Google Authenticator" in the App Store.

Android users should search for "Google Authenticator" in Google Play. Download

2. Bind Google two-step verification.

First, log in to your KuCoin account.  Click on the Account tab. next, click on the Google 2-Step tab.  If you have already downloaded the App, click on the Next button.

Next, you will see a screen similar to the one below. When this screen appears, the letters and numbers that you see is your secret key.  Please, write this down and store it in a secure place.  You will need this if you lose or replace your phone, or accidentally uninstall Google Authenticator. Once you have saved the 2-Step secret key, please click on the Next button to continue.

Now, you will see the following screen. Open the Google Authenticator app on your phone. You now have two options:

1. You may scan the QR code with your phone, and it will set up the Google Authenticator for KuCoin and start generating codes for you.

2. You may also input the email address linked to your KuCoin account and the secret key that you received. Once you have done this, the Google Authenticator will start generating codes for you.

Third, open Google Authenticator from your phone to scan the QR code or input your email address and the key which appears on our website.

Below are some samples of what you will see on your phone in the Google Authenticator app.

iOS

Android

Once the Google Authenticator and your KuCoin account are bound, you will receive a unique 6-digit code to access your account. This code is only valid for one time, and a new code is generated every 30 seconds.  Below is a sample of what the code will look like on your phone.

Finally, enter your 6-digit code into the Please enter Google 2-Step verification box, and click the Submit button as seen below.  Now you have secure access to your KuCoin account!

Tip:

  • The mobile phone’s time needs to be consistent with the server’s time. The server’s time can be found in the lower right of KuCoin's official website, when the site requests the 2FA code.
  • Some phones need to be restarted after the binding.
  • For login, trading and withdrawal, users are required to enter the verification code.
  • Please do NOT delete the Google Authenticator from your phone.
  • Please enter the correct Google two-step verification code, because if you enter the wrong verification code five times, the Google two-step verification will be locked for 2 hours.
KYC

Kucoin KYC guide.

The KYC Verification process for KuCoin is a standardized compliance measure for anti-money laundering (AML) and counter-terrorism financing (CTF) laws and regulations.

Starting on November 1st 2018, the limitation restricts the amount a user can withdraw within a 24-hour period from 00:00 to 23:59 (UTC+8).

KuCoin users that complete KYC verification will enjoy higher daily withdrawal limits. The new withdrawal limits are listed below.

  • Verified Individual Account: 100 BTC per 24hr
  • Verified Institutional Account: 500 BTC per 24hr
  • Non-verified Account: 2 BTC per 24hr

Please note that the next withdrawal limit is refreshed after 00:00 (UTC+8) of a calendar day.

The KYC Verification process consists of completing an online questionnaire, submitting supporting documents and authorizing KuCoin to complete the verification process. The processing time for each KYC Verification can take up to 5 days, depending on the total volume of submissions.

Please visit the KYC Verification page for full details. Once you fill out all the sections and submit the verification, the KYC Verification process will start. If you pass the KYC Verification, we will notify you via email. If you did not pass the verification, please follow the prompts in the notification email to update or submit additional KYC information.

Please keep in mind that the KYC Verification is not mandatory for deposit, trade or withdrawal of cryptocurrencies. Once you sign up for KuCoin, you can deposit, trade or withdraw cryptocurrencies immediately. Please refer to foregoing statement and rules about daily withdrawal limit by defining whether an account is KYC verified or not.

We strongly suggest our clients complete the KYC Verification. In cases where the client forgets his/her credentials to access the platform or when his/her account is taken over by others because of the leakage of personal information from the client side, the verified KYC information will help the client recover his/her account quickly.

Also, a KYC verified account would have access to the Fiat-Crypto exchange services provided by KuCoin in the future.

How to trade

How to Make a Trade on KuCoin

1. Log in to your KuCoin account, then, click on the market tab.

2. Now, you will see the tabs of the different markets and trading pairs highlighted in the red box below.

3. Depending on which tab you click on you will see different markets. The options are Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), Neo (NEO), Tether (USDT) and KuCoin Shares (KCS). Not all tokens are paired into every market, and the prices may vary depending on the market you are looking at. Also, keep in mind that you should pay attention to the Fiat currency price as well as the price of the Coin that the token is paired with.

4. Now you will see the different markets, starting with BTC. When you are looking at this page you can see the last price, %change over the last 24 hours, Amount (24 hours) and Volume (24 hours). There is also the option for fast trading, which allows you to buy or sell at the best current price available. Notice that the price is listed in BTC, and the fiat currency is next to it. When you want to buy something, for example, ETH, you are actually spending BTC to buy, not fiat currency. This will be the same for all markets.

5. The following four images show you the different markets, depending on which tab you click on.

NEO Market

USDT Market

KCS Market

5. Once you have clicked on the tab for the market that you want to trade in, you can scroll down until you find the token/coin you want to trade and click on it, or you can use the search box to find the token/coin. If you use the search box make sure that you are in the market where the appropriate pair is. If not, you will not find what you are looking for. Below shows where you find the search box.

6. Now that you have found whichever coin you want to trade, you will see the following page. For this example, you will see BTC/ETH.

7. Before you can trade you will need to enter your Google 2FA, for security. Once you enter the Google 2FA code you will not be asked to enter it again for 2 hours. It is highlighted in the red box below.

8. Now, you are ready to trade. First, you will see the order book and the recent ledger. The red numbers highlighted in the red box, are the tokens for sale. The green numbers highlighted in the green box, are the orders to buy. The number between these two boxes is the last sale price. The numbers highlighted in the blue box are the recent transactions that have occurred.

9. Just below the order book, you will see where you can place your orders to buy or sell. Here you enter your price in BTC to buy or sell ETH, using our example. You can click on any number on the order book, and the price will go into the Buy or Sell box for you, or you can enter your price manually. You also enter the number of coins/tokens you want to buy here. Using the above order book, you can see that you can buy 1 ETH for 0.07097396 BTC. That is the best available price currently. However, you do not need to pay that price. You can offer whatever price you want, and your order will go into your open orders, and be filled when the price matches your offer.  Also, notice that only 1 ETH is available at that price. So, if you want to buy 4 ETH and you choose to set the buy price at the price where 1 ETH is available, your order will be partially filled until your price is met for the additional 3 ETH. Once again this will remain in your open orders.

10.  Below you will see where your open orders are stored.  You can also find your open orders under the Assets tab.

11.  You will also see a big graph on the page.  This shows you how the coin/token has performed since listing.

12. This is only a guide to help you navigate through trading on KuCoin. If you are not an experienced trader, it is advised that you do some research before investing.
